Description
An Oltrepo Pavese wine tasting from Milan begins at Milano Centrale, where your host welcomes you and sends you on your way by train, about 45 minutes, to one of Italy's largest wine areas. You buy your own train tickets, as they are not part of the experience.
From the station, a courtesy transfer drives you on, via local towns and historic spots, to the vineyard. You walk among the vines of the area sometimes called the Tuscany of the North, visit the cantina, where the local ways of making wine are explained, and meet the winemakers.
- Nine glasses of wine made by the family, with no pesticides used on the vines
- A homemade lunch, with each tasting paired with food such as fresh pasta
- One bottle of wine to take home for every two guests
You eat on an outdoor patio with views, or inside a chalet if it rains. Altogether the day takes about six hours. A pasta lesson with an Italian grandmother is available on request and quoted separately. Because the visit includes walking in the vineyards, it needs participants who can walk unassisted, and it is not suited to wheelchairs or walking sticks.
