Description
A private walking tour of Milan with a local guide lets you set the rhythm: the route can bend to your interests, and there is no crowd to keep up with. It works well for a first visit, giving you the city's history, fashion and daily life in about two hours.
You start near the Sforza Castle, the Renaissance fortress tied to Leonardo da Vinci, and walk along Via Dante, a pedestrian street of historic buildings, cafes and boutiques. The guide tells how Milan grew from a medieval power into a capital of fashion, finance and design.
Off the main path you find Palazzo Carmagnola and the surroundings of the Piccolo Teatro, then reach Piazza Affari, where Maurizio Cattelan's sculpture L.O.V.E., nicknamed The Finger, shows the city's modern side. The walk then reaches the Gothic spires of the Duomo and the glass dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
A short coffee or gelato stop is built in, and it is not counted in the tour time. Tickets and entrances are not included, and the tour is not suited to people with mobility impairments. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
