Description

The Lido is one of the main sport centres in the city, one of the most popular with both Milanese and visitors alike.
Opened in the early thirties, it was part of a project to transform the area near the San Siro Hippodrome into a point of reference for sports and recreation. Purchased by the municipality of Milan the centre was then transformed into a multipurpose space.
The main focus of the Lido is the vast 8,000 square-metre outdoor pool with water slides, beach volleyball and areas covered with AstroTurf for sunbathing with sun beds and umbrellas, that is packed every summer by the Milanese who want to find some respite from the heat.
It also boasts indoor and outdoor tennis courts, uncovered 5-a-side soccer fields and a playground.
