Description
A Cinque Terre day trip from Milan asks a lot of a single day, and this one makes it easy: an air-conditioned coach carries you to the coast and a guide goes with you. In La Spezia you leave the road behind and board a boat, which gives you the medieval villages as they look from the sea.
The cruise ends at Manarola, where you get time to wander the typical village. Next is Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the five villages and free of car traffic, with restaurants, bars and places to stay that feel homespun. You have free time here before the last stretch.

The five villages sit in a national park that UNESCO lists as a World Heritage Site. Bad weather can stop the boat or close some docks, and then the route changes or the cruise is cancelled. Food, drinks and tips are not included, and the tour does not suit wheelchair users.
